Recently I started using Windows 10. I did run into some hiccups along the way. But overall I was please with how Microsoft managed to turn their Windows operating system and again make it useful.
One of the things that stood up for me was the presence of Search the web and Windows in the left hand side of tool bar as shown in the screenshot below.
Don't get me wrong. I have nothing against that search box. It is not something new that Microsoft has done. Google offers similar search box in your task box even in existing version of Windows. In Windows 10 this search box is powered by smart assistant Cortana. It is same voice activated smart assistant that you have on Windows smart pones as well.
But for my work, I really need as much as room I can have on task bar as I can have. I have plenty of applications that I like to pin to task bar. That search box was just taking lot of room for me. So I had to disable it. Here are the steps you can follow to hide or disable search box in task bar.
Right click on task bar.
You will notice it has Search in context menu. When you move mouse over it, it has 3 more options.
Click on Disabled as shown below.
You will notice that search box has disappeared from task bar.
