Today I got my new shiny desktop machine Dell XPS 630 machine with GTX 285 video card. No, it is not for gaming. I know that is the first reaction when I tell this configuration. I have to look into some parallel computing stuff and leveraging GPU power along with CPU to perform some intense calculations. Anyways, after I set up all my visual studio tools and tried to load up a project, I get the following error."The Source Control provider associated with this solution could not be found. The projects will be treated as not under source control. Do you want to permanently remove the source control bindings from the projects?"
Yes, project still uses old VSS 6.0d. One of my task is to migrate source control to Team Foundation Server 2008. But for next few days I am still stuck with VSS6.0d. When I did Bing and google search, I did not find any satisfactory answer. Then I realized that this is all new install of Visual Studio environment. So i went into Tools > Options > Source Control menu, saw that my source control provider was set to None. Once I set to use Microsoft Visual Source Safe everything was happy and good to go.
